About Smith & Raver LLP - Meet our Lawyers

I was born in Austin, Minnesota in 1969.  My father followed my grandfather into the
newspaper business, and I grew up in several midwestern small towns as my dad
moved the family throughout his career.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire in 1992, and then moved
back to Minnesota to study law.  During law school, I interned with Judge John
Connelly in St. Paul, and prosecuted felonies at the Ramsey County Attorney’s office.
I graduated from William Mitchell College of Law in 1995.  I have worked for large
firms, such as Faegre & Benson, and smaller practices, like Fetterly & Gordon.

In 2002, I started practicing law on my own, and in December, 2004, formed Smith &
Raver LLP with my partner and classmate Rick Raver.

I volunteer as a legal expert for
AllExperts.com, and answer general questions about
civil litigation there and on
Yahoo.  I was recently invited to post my profile on
Linked in, the jury is still out on whether I like it or not.

I am also working on uploading to our
News and Results page; thanks for the
suggestion!

I was born and raised in the Twin Cities. After spending several years in California in
my early twenties, and graduating with honors from San Franciso State University, like
many native Minnesotans, I came home in 1992, in my case to study law at William
Mitchell College of Law.

Since graduating in 1995, I have worked primarily in the field of civil litigation, on
many varied cases large and small.

In December 2004, with my partner Morgan Smith, I founded the law firm of Smith &
Raver LLP.
